Sketching | “When I was young and listened to older artist talk about art, telling me what was important, I was always told, that sketching was the most important thing in the world. I did, what I imagine everyone else would in my position: I bought sketchbooks and dutifully tried to fill them. I tried sketching people in the city bus, but the images sucked , since the bus was moving and the lines were…well; sketchy.” — Muddy Colors
Thanks to everyone who has followed this blog and supported my work this past year. I had no idea this would be the case when I took the Tumblr plunge, but making “personal” art pieces to post on here forced me to grow as an artist and has fed back into my “professional” work, and it has inspired me for the possibilities in my future endeavors. I deeply appreciate it, and hope you got something worthwhile out of this blog too. A huge thanks to all of the incredible artists I follow on here for the invaluable inspiration, and to the ATLA and LOK fans for all the spirited fanart, GIFs, cosplay, etc. You guys help to fuel us through the crazy process of bringing animation to life.
I wish you all the best in 2013. Happy New Year!
Tony Shelton has an amazing blog post over here about hands. Totally worth a look!

“Legendary Beauties” is a duo exhibition featuring Brittney Lee and Lorelay Bove. Both are prolific artists currently working their dream jobs at Disney Animation Studios as Visual Development Artist. Their collaboration is in honor of memorable women in history. Paying tribute through delicate creations in classic 50’s centric style, reminiscent of earlier Disney films.
Brittney creates dioramas / paper sculpture, layering hand cut, drawn and painted characters that feel as if you were looking at a precious miniature world.
Lorelay works mainly in gouache and ink using simple composition to evoke energetic movement. Both artists’ work have a sense of nostalgia that still appeals to a modern audience.
Wreck It Ralph is Brittney Lee’s first film credit. She recently worked on the book Tangled : A Dazzling Day and as a background/character designer for several film studios.
Lorelay Bove has worked on Princess and The Frog, Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, and most recently Wreck It Ralph.
